Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then located many other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement report early analysis show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for information.
An important official commented the attack rendered him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
